I can recall a time around 25 years ago when I was in your exact situation. What you didn’t mention is how short of a time you actually have?

The truth of the matter is that there is no way that you can lose 30 pounds in a short time safely. If you have at least two months, preferably three, then you can gradually change your eating habits and start an exercise program. Even then, that’s losing 10 pounds per month. This is VERY doable, but you’ll need to be dedicated to your task at hand.

You may want to seriously consider hiring a personal trainer. You can do this for anywhere from $30.00 to $100.00 per week. A good personal trainer can get you on a nutritious meal plan and hold you accountable for your exercising.

Just so you know, you’re going to need to snap out of your “fast and easy” mentality very soon if you plan to enter the military. Once you hit basic training you’re going to be challenged like never before both physically and mentally. You need to be up for the challenge by beginning to make changes now. Otherwise, you may be in for a tougher training period than you’d be facing otherwise.
